My name is serephina moon, a psychic, medium, empath, natural spiritual healer, and practitioner of white magic and ancestral spirituality. My spiritual journey has been one of awakening, healing, survival, and purpose. This year, I will be traveling to Africa to complete my full Yoruba Ifá initiation under the guidance of my mentor and spiritual partner, Ifagbamila, an experienced Babalawo deeply rooted in the traditions and teachings of Ifá.
Together, we created God’s Sidekicks & Healers with one mission: to help people heal spiritually, emotionally, mentally, and energetically while guiding them toward truth, balance, purpose, and self-discovery through spiritual practices and ancestral wisdom.
My path was not an easy one. I survived pain, trauma, abuse, betrayal, and suffering in many forms — physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual. There were moments in life where I felt unloved, unwanted, invisible, and broken. People tried to dim my light and keep me from awakening to who I truly was meant to become. But through God, the Ancestors, spiritual guidance, and the support of my mentor, I found healing, purpose, and strength.
Instead of allowing my pain to turn into bitterness, I chose healing. I chose forgiveness. Most importantly, I chose to dedicate my life to helping others who may feel lost, hopeless, spiritually blocked, or alone.
On November 15, 2023, my mentor and I made the decision to fully embrace our calling and use our spiritual gifts to help others awaken to what we believe is the deeper truth of existence: that spirituality connects all things, and that God — the Creator — exists within all life and creation. Everything has a purpose, a reason for existing, and life itself depends on balance between light and darkness, right and wrong, healing and growth.
Through ancestral practices, Ifá traditions, spiritual healing, divination, cleansing, mediumship, guidance, and energy work, we aim to help others reconnect with themselves, their purpose, and the spiritual world around them.
At God’s Sidekicks & Healers, we believe spiritual tools such as ancestors, spirit guides, guardian angels, saints, divine energies, and higher spiritual forces exist to help guide, protect, heal, and uplift humanity. We also believe that fear, ego, jealousy, greed, hatred, and division often disconnect people from their true spiritual nature.
Our purpose is not to spread fear — it is to spread healing, awareness, love, truth, spiritual growth, and understanding.

Unlike many of the systems mentioned before, Ifá is not just a tool or a parlor game that evolved into a spiritual practice. It is a highly complex, ancient, and mathematically structured **philosophy, cosmology, and religion** originating with the Yoruba people of West Africa (primarily modern-day Nigeria, Benin, and Togo). It is so culturally and historically significant that UNESCO officially designated the Ifá Divination System as a *Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity*
.
1. The Core Philosophy: The Witness to Destiny
In the Yoruba tradition, Ifá is overseen by the Orisha (deity) named **Ọrunmila**, who is considered the deity of wisdom and intellectual development.
According to Ifá belief, Ọrunmila was present when Olodumare (the Supreme Creator) formed the universe and when every human soul chose its earthly destiny (*Ori*). Because humans forget their chosen destiny when they are born into the physical world, they consult Ifá to get back on track, navigate life challenges, and achieve character alignment (Iwa Pele, meaning "good character").
2. The Mechanics: How an Ifá Reading Works What makes Ifá fascinating from an intellectual standpoint is that it is fundamentally a **binary mathematical system** used to access a massive oral library. It does not rely on a priest having erratic "psychic visions"—it relies on strict computation and exhaustive study.
The ritual is performed by a highly trained priest (Babalawo, meaning Father of Secrets) or priestess (Iyanifa, meaning *Mother of Secrets*), who undergoes decades of rigorous oral training.
The Tools:Ikin Ifá (Sacred Palm Nuts): The most traditional tool. The priest holds 16 consecrated palm nuts in one hand and tries to scoop them into the other.
Ọpọ́n Ifá (Divination Board): A carved wooden tray covered in a thin layer of sacred wood dust. If one nut remains in the hand, the priest draws two lines in the dust. If two nuts remain, they draw one line. Ọpẹ̀lẹ̀ (Divination Chain): For quicker everyday readings, a chain with eight halved seed pods or shells is dropped. Depending on whether the pods land facing up or down, it creates the binary code.
3. The Sacred Matrix: The Odu Ifá The patterns drawn in the dust or revealed by the chain correspond to the Odu Ifá, which is the massive literary and philosophical corpus of the tradition. There are 16 primary Odu** (or principal signs).
These 16 combine with one another to create a matrix of 256 Odu combinations ($16 \times 16$).
Each of these 256 Odu contains thousands of Ese Ifá (verses, stories, poems, and histories)
When the Babalawo determines the exact Odu from the binary pattern, they begin chanting the specific verses associated with it. These verses contain mythological allegories, historical accounts, remedies, and ethical advice. The seeker listens to the verses, recognizes which story mirrors their current real-world dilemma, and receives guidance on what steps or offerings are required to resolve it.
4. Ifá in the Modern World Because of the transatlantic slave trade, Ifá was carried by enslaved Yoruba people to the Americas. To survive heavy persecution and forced conversions by colonial powers, it adapted and blended with other traditions, forming the foundations of diverse African Diasporic religions today, including: Santería / Lucumí (Cuba, Puerto Rico, USA) Candomblé (Brazil) Vodou (Haiti)
While pop culture and historical biases often falsely mislabeled these ancient traditions as "voodoo magic" or superstition, scholars today recognize Ifá as a sophisticated epistemology. Late Nigerian philosopher Sophie Olúwọlé famously drew deep parallels between the teachings of Ọrunmila and the foundational logic of Western philosophers like Socrates, noting both heavily emphasized virtue, cosmic balance, and logic over material gain.

Elegí el perdón. Y lo más importante, elegí dedicar mi vida a ayudar a otros que puedan sentirse perdidos, sin esperanza, bloqueados espiritualmente o solos. El 15 de noviembre de 2023, mi mentor y yo tomamos la decisión de abrazar completamente nuestro llamado y usar nuestros dones espirituales para ayudar a otros a despertar a lo que creemos es la verdad más profunda de la existencia: que la espiritualidad conecta todas las cosas y que Dios — el Creador — existe dentro de toda vida y creación. Sobre la Espiritualidad Ifá
LA diferencia de muchos de los sistemas mencionados anteriormente, el Ifá no es simplemente una herramienta o un juego de salón que evolucionó hacia una práctica espiritual. Es una filosofía, cosmología y religión altamente compleja, antigua y estructurada matemáticamente, originaria del pueblo Yoruba de África Occidental (principalmente en la actual Nigeria, Benín y Togo). Su importancia cultural e histórica es tan grande que la UNESCO designó oficialmente al Sistema de Adivinación Ifá como una Obra Maestra del Patrimonio Oral e Inmaterial de la Humanidad.
1. La Filosofía Central: El Testigo del Destino
En la tradición Yoruba, Ifá está guiado por el Orisha (deidad) llamado Ọrunmila, considerado la deidad de la sabiduría y del desarrollo intelectual.
Según las creencias de Ifá, Ọrunmila estuvo presente cuando Olodumare (el Creador Supremo) formó el universo y cuando cada alma humana eligió su destino terrenal (Ori). Debido a que los seres humanos olvidan el destino que eligieron al nacer en el mundo físico, consultan a Ifá para reencontrar su camino, superar los desafíos de la vida y lograr alineación espiritual y moral mediante el concepto de Iwa Pele, que significa “buen carácter”.
2. El Funcionamiento: Cómo Funciona una Lectura de Ifá
Lo que hace fascinante a Ifá desde un punto de vista intelectual es que fundamentalmente utiliza un sistema matemático binario para acceder a una inmensa biblioteca oral. No depende de qu un sacerdote tenga “visiones psíquicas” aleatorias; depende de cálculos estrictos y de un estudio profundo y exhaustivo. El ritual es realizado por un sacerdote altamente entrenado, conocido como Babalawo (que significa “Padre de los Secretos”) o por una sacerdotisa llamada Iyanifa (“Madre de los Secretos”), quienes pasan décadas en rigurosa formación oral. Las Herramientas Ikin Ifá (Nueces de Palma Sagradas): Es la herramienta más tradicional. El sacerdote sostiene 16 nueces de palma consagradas en una mano e intenta transferirlas a la otra. Ọpọ́n Ifá (Tablero de Adivinación): una bandeja de madera tallada cubierta con una fina capa de polvo sagrado de madera. Si queda una nuez en la mano, el sacerdote dibuja dos líneas en el polvo. 3. La Matriz Sagrada: El Odu Ifá
Los patrones dibujados en el polvo o revelados por la cadena corresponden al Odu Ifá, que representa el vasto cuerpo literario y filosófico de la tradición. Existen 16 Odu principales (o signos principales). Estos 16 se combinan entre sí para crear una matriz de 256 combinaciones Odu: 16×16=25616 \times 16 = 25616×16=256 Cada uno de estos 256 Odu contiene miles de Ese Ifá (versos, historias, poemas y relatos históricos). Cuando el Babalawo identifica el Odu exacto a partir del patrón binario, comienza a recitar los versos específicos asociados con él. Estos versos contienen alegorías mitológicas, relatos históricos, remedios y enseñanzas éticas. 4. Ifá en el Mundo Moderno
Debido al comercio transatlántico de esclavos, Ifá fue llevado a las Américas por personas Yoruba esclavizadas.
